• Our Purpose

If you’re a spiritual seeker with questions about God, we’d love to sit with you and study what God says about himself in the Bible. And if you’re a committed Christian who wants to sink the roots of your faith even deeper, you can find a home here at Islington Baptist Church.

The following statement represents our motivational and controlling aims:

As a church we strive to see:

Genuine salvation – we strive to humbly submit to Christ as LORD and SAVIOUR. This involves a decision to repent from our rebellion against him and trust in the salvation won for us by Jesus Christ on the cross. And it involves a lifetime of living out our submission to Christ as LORD.

Genuine community – together, we’re striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible, where there’s faithful Bible teaching, heart-felt praise of God, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. In short, we aim to be the kind of community God intended us to be – one that reflects the sacrificial love that God first showed to us in Jesus.

As a church we also strive to share his compassion for the world:

Compassion for the lost – we proclaim God’s saving grace by speaking of the hope we have. The good news of salvation is a message that is crying out to be passed on to our friends, family neighbours and anyone who is not yet a Christian.

Compassion for the wider community – we testify to the goodness of God’s character by showing practical acts of compassion to those in need in our community. We aim to live as though everyone is our neighbour.
